What is the general advice on installing on Tiger, is it safe to

I haven't looked to see if the Darwin build has changed much or no
longer needs (or needs more) any of the components, I'm hoping you
have had a look already and have answers.
I have been rather rushed and spent little time on it.
However, I have rebuilt a few apps using the existing binary
libraries with gcc 4 on Tiger and they seem to work without problem.
Indeed I have been using gcc-4 for some time on Panther because it
contains a number of fixes important to Swarm.
