That file is in the hdf5 rpm, I wonder if your system somehow mistakenly
destroyed it. In /usr/lib, I have:
/usr/lib/libhdf5.a
/usr/lib/libhdf5.la
/usr/lib/libhdf5.settings
/usr/lib/libhdf5.so
/usr/lib/libhdf5.so.0
/usr/lib/libhdf5.so.0.0.0

Should remove/reinstall hdf5-1.2.2 and get the most recent swarm rpm,
just for good measure.
