Re: SimCAS work for anybody? Whither Rhapsody?

A better classpath may be:

"C:\<YourJavaInstall>\lib\classes.zip;C:\<YourProjectFolder>;C:\SimCas\Simcas0.9\lib\Simcas.jar;C:\SimCas\Simcas0.9\demo"

This way you won't have any trouble running the simulations no matter what your
working directory is. (Warning: I haven't tested the above classpath, it's for
illustration only!)

In any case, the SimCAS beta was ridiculously easy to get running. Believe it
or not, setting classpath is usually the _hardest_ problem you'll run into when
doing a Java installation, and it is trivial, even if for some reason everyone
(myself included) seems to have a little trouble with it.

btw, did anyone catch the Apple WWDC conference keynote? It looks like Apple is
basically canning the Rhapsody API and sticking with the Mac Toolbox. This
_seems_ to mean no mass market yellow box, and no mass-market apple sponsored
ObjectiveC, but I could be wrong. I guess this may be bad, good, or indifferent
news, depending on what kind of effect you thought Apple would have on
ObjectiveC in the first place.

I added '.' to both CLASSPATH and PATH (in Autoexec.bat, under NT) before
it would work. It also seemed, contrary to Sun's installation instructions
for jdk, that setting these two is better done in the autoexec.bat file
than using the control panel approach.

FWIW, my autoexec.bat:

SET CLASSPATH=C:\SimCas\Simcas0.9\lib\Simcas.jar;.
SET PATH=C:\jdk1.1.6\bin;.

Good luck,
Sven
