Btw, I have some code to remove this call to xdpyinfo by using
portable-clx's support for Xinerama that I wrote some time ago (it's in
Christophe Rhode's tree). See the personal branch in my github stumpwm
repo. In particular this commit:

I would love to see this in stumpwm master, but I guess one should
should port Xinerama support to other CLX implementations first.
