I'm running Stumpwm on FreeBSD for a while now, and it always worked
great. Currently I'm running 8448287920ad068e2d5d492d1eb485d58b3cec1b
on freeBSD 7.1-PRERELEASE using sbcl 1.0.20 (with threads).
I think the sbcl in ports is 1.0.21 and I had some troubles with
it. Maybe you could download the binary distribution for freeBSD here:
http://www.sbcl.org/platform-table.html (currently 1.0.6 it seems),
and if it works you can use it to bootstrap your own build of, say,
sbcl 1.0.20.
