Sounds like a setting error in sks config regarding path or ownership.

check the script, the error comes from a function called "fail", which
is called only when any of the /usr/bin/sks commands fail.

I'd suggest debugging the bash script to see what you are actually
running... (use the debug flag when calling the script). This will
show any paths used from config...

ps, if you really wanted to switch the dir you execute the script in,
whilst using the disk space of another path, you can mount bind (but
as this is not the solution I don't recommend).
