If there were any BDB "security releases", you might have a point.

There is no difference between a per-application dynamic or static link.
For a seldom used, seldom upgraded, application like SKS, embedding
a version of some Berkeley DB so that the decision of how to upgrade
SKS doesn't get twisted into distro politics (none of this thread
has much to do with SKS, its _ALL_ Debian politics and proper
admininstrivia to get SKS upgraded overruling the maintainers choice).
