The decision to use Berkeley DB  came largely because I was working
from the PKS model.  But using a real RDBMS seems plausible enough,
and it wouldn't be so awfully difficult to do, I think.  Most of the
changes would go into the Keydb module, which would basically need to
be rewritten from scratch.   But the rest of the app could stay
more-or-less as it is.

I don't have time to do too much work in that direction at present,
but I'd be very supportive of anyone who wanted to try to hack in that
direction.
