The main problem here is that sks is giving confusing and useless
feedback.n  The real problem appears to have occured during fastbuild,
and I'm not sure why.  I've updated the CVS version of SKS to give
better feedback.  Update to the latest version and build and install the
bytecode version of the code ("make all.bc" and "make install.bc"). 
You'll then have a shell script called sks_build.bc.sh.  Run that, and
you should get a stack trace, which you can report back to me and the
list, and hopefully that shoudl give us enough info to work out what the
problem is.
