Follow-up Comment #2, task #8103 (project self-platform):

I fully agree with the COM team that the current SELF Platform frontpage is
not very effective nor as dynamic as one would expect from a platform like
SELF.

The proposed changes however don't make it more dynamic. I think Nagarjuna's
ideas of presenting the most active, most popular and most recent
contributions etc make much sense.

Maybe a combination of dynamically generated content and some editable fields
will be best, for presenting latest news, maybe a highlighted object with
comments from the frontpage editors.

I agree with Meena that we need a special user role for managing the
frontpage, that could be the same as the manager role or we might need to
create an additional role.
