==== Description: ====
The GNU Astronomy Utilities (Gnuastro) is an official GNU package consisting
of separate programs for the manipulation and analysis of astronomical data.
All the various utilities share the same basic command line user interface for
the comfort of both the users and developers. GNU Astronomy Utilities is
written to comply fully with the GNU coding standards so it integrates finely
with the GNU/Linux operating system. This also enables astronomers to expect a
fully familiar experience in the source code, building, installing and command
line user interaction that they have seen in all the other GNU software that
they use.
==== Other Software Required: ====
Mandatory
=========
GNU Scientific Library, GPL, http://www.gnu.org/software/gsl/
CFITSIO, Custom(free) license,
http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/fitsio/fitsio.html
WCSLIB, GPLv3+, http://www.atnf.csiro.au/people/mcalabre/WCS/
Optional
========
libjpeg, custom (listed as free on GNU.org), http://www.ijg.org/
==== Other Comments: ====
Gnuastro was dubbed as a GNU software by RMS at the 17th of February 2015. As
a scientific software it was necessary for the main scientific paper
introducing it to be accepted in a scientific journal and finally today it was
accepted in the Astrophysical Journal Supplemental Series. So we are now ready
to start distributing it an activating its webpage. Hopefully by the time the
paper is published Gnuastro's webpage is ready for new users.
