GCIDE is the GNU version of the Collaborative International
Dictionary of English, derived from the Webster's Revised Unabridged
Dictionary, proof-read and supplemented by volunteers from around the world.
The project was started by Patrick J. Cassidy, which is its leading editor.
Its version 0.46 was being distributed from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gcide for a
long time. Now, we have prepared a new version, which is going to be released
soon. This project is not software, properly speaking. Another GNU project,
GNU Dico provides the software for reading and searching in this dictionary.
The Savannah hosting is needed primarily for a Git repo of the dictionary
corpus and its web page.
