Sorry for the late response.
You could try installing or running gNewSense by getting this ISO.
You could get the ISO from this site:
http://www.gnewsense.org/Download/
To burn the iso, you could use InfraRecord program. The documentation and
tool is available from:
http://infrarecord.org
You can either install or run from the live cd. From there you can install
the IcedTea package.
Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal
sudo aptitude install openjdk-6-jdk
