==== Description: ====
Freedoom is a project to create a completely free game data IWAD for id
Software's Doom engine. While the Doom source code was released under the GNU
GPL v2 in 1999, the game data is not free. Freedoom aims to recreate game
data from scratch, using no resources of the original game, and license it
under a free license so that everyone can benefit from the work. Combined
with the game engine, this results in a 100% Free Software game.

==== Other Software Required: ====
DeuTex for building: http://www.teaser.fr/~amajorel/deutex/
Tri-licensed under the GNU LGPL, GNU GPL, and pbmplus licenses.
Boom-compatible engine for playing, licensed under the GNU GPL v2:
http://www.teamtnt.com/boompubl/getit.htm
The most popular engine for playing Freedoom is PrBoom, also licensed under
the GNU GPL v2: http://prboom.sourceforge.net/

==== Other Comments: ====
I'm actually the new maintainer of Freedoom, and for various reasons I want
it to switch to using git as a version control, on top of the fact that the
original project is hosted on SourceForge (http://freedoom.sourceforge.net)
which I tend to avoid (using a development platform) as much as possible for
ethical reasons, so Savannah seems to be a very good choice.
