==== Description: ====
ONS is a suite of software programmed in plain C.
It consists of several network related libraries:
- Socket-Address library helping managing your socket addresses
- Socket library helping managing sockets independently of your architecture
- Ancillary data library managing ancillary socket transmission through the
"man cmsg" interface.
- DNS library (core library) managing RECURSIVE, secure, non-threaded,
asynchronous dns requests.
- several helping libraries like memory handlers.
All these libraries are operating-system and architecture independently and
critical interfaces are ported on as many platforms as we can.
When these libraries are written IRC protocol parsers will be added and the
main operational area will be IRC, server<->server (P10) as well as
server<->client.
Currently there is no library supporting recursive non-threaded asynchronous
DNS requests, no library supporting asynchronous IRC parsing as well as
IRC-P10 parsing and no library allowing the use of ancillary data
independently of the operating system.
We are going to provide these mechanisms in ONS, a suite of libraries where
you can choose the libraries you need without beeing forced to use all of
them.
==== Other Software Required: ====
glibc - LGPL - http://www.gnu.org/software/libc/
or any other compatible Standard-C-Library.
