==== Description: ====
FIGS (Free Intellectual Games Server)
Current code: http://www.mediafire.com/?0gn4vfjjynt
   The aim of this project (long term) is to make a cross-platform FOSS
stable server that it is easy to add games to (with a focus on turn based,
full information, little-no luck, strategy games), and a graphical client for
it. It will be released under the GPL, and hopefully recognized by GNU. Both
the server (and my client) will be written in java. Currently I have 1. A
relatively simple multi-threaded server that allows users to log on, chat,
seek games, and play many variants of chess; a client that uses AWT to
communicate with the players; And an abstracted model of many chess variants
(18). My development plan is as follows:
1. Attempt to debug some graphical glitches associated with AWT in the
client, and add functionality for the rest of the chess games (ex: the four
player ones).
2. Add a user profile and rating system using MYSQL, and make a simple web
page using PHP for user registration.
3. Add support for go, and variants thereof.
4. Clean up and document my code, and debug enough for a 1.0 release.
5. Start up the server! (I already have a host)
6. Start work on an API for users to add new games, continue other server
development.

I am currently the only developer, with some help from KD19 making the code
compatible with GCJ. I am not actively seeking other people to help on the
project yet, but if some wish to I would not be averse to it at all :).

==== Other Software Required: ====
EITHER:
Sun Java 1.4-1.6 (now GPL :) )
OR
GCJ (Note uses AWT, but my friend said worked fine on it)

FUTURE:
Will require MYSQL for player database, and java libraries for that.

==== Other Comments: ====
KD19 may have already submitted something related to this, if so please use
this submission instead please.
