  We want to release the stand-alone version of the tool under the GPL v2. 
However, we would need to release the Eclipse plug-in under Eclipse Public
Lisence (EPL). My employer is just about to join Eclipse Foundation as an
associate member and, therefore, according to my understanding, we are
committed to release our Eclipse contributions under EPL (??).

Description:
------------
  Our objective is to develop a tool for browsing and maintaining an
architectural knowledge base.  The knowledge base, which we call "stylebase",
stores architectural styles and patterns as well as design patterns. The aim
of the stylebase is to assist a software architect/designer in selecting
styles and patterns which best support desired quality goals.  The tool can
be used in three ways: 1) as an electronic library for patterns 2) as a
quality-driven architecture desing guide 3) as a quality-driven architecture
evalution guide.

The tool has been implemted as an Eclipse plug-in in Java 5.0.  We plan to
release a stand-alone version later on.  The tool is ment to run on all
operating systems supported by Eclipse IDE. In the beginning, it will be
tested on Linux (x86/GTK) and Windows.

The project is finanzed by my employer, the VTT Technical Research Center of
Finland. VTT is a govermental, not-for-profit research institute. For more

You can download the current code base at
http://www.students.oamk.fi/~k5heka02/VTT/source.html. It is not yet
commented and contains some "dirty hacks" which will be removed later on.

As explained previously, the tool is initially an extension to Eclipse IDE,
but a stand-alone version is planned.
