Details:

A new project has been registered at Savannah
The project account will remain inactive until a site admin approve or
discard the registration.

######### REGISTRATION ADMINISTRATION #########

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving
or discarding the registration must be done using the specific "Group
Administration" page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively
logged as site administrators (superuser):

######### REGISTRATION DETAILS #########

Full Name:
----------
 Tricératops, un modeleur 3D

System Group Name:
-----------------
 triceratops

Type:
-----
 non-GNU software & documentation

License:
--------
GNU General Public License V2 or later

Description:
------------
This is a project carried out by two students in computer science.
It aims to create a 3D modeler for a studying project.
It will be portable (we develop on a GNU/Linux environment and do tests on
Windows also), and will be able to create scenes composed by objects such as
curves or surfaces. Materials (procedurals or not) will be able to be
attached to theses objects
It will use Qt and OpenGL for portability. Doxygen will be used for code's
documentation, UML diagramms will be made with Umbrello, and others documents
will be made with LaTeX or OpenOffice.org

At mid-term the modeler will be able to use a distributed raytracer that have
been made by us last year for another school project. It was made in Java. So
the modeler will be able to export scenes in the same XML format as the
distributed raytracer use. But the modeler will remain totaly independant and
separate from the distributed raytracer. So we won't host or develop the
distributed raytracer here (maybe as an archive package in order to be used
by the modeler ? we don't know if the policy of Savannah let us to do that)
At long term we will rewrite the distributed raytracer in C++ in order to
integrate it to the modeler if it can.

We will also add more objects and more modification.
And some modules will be created such as 3D paintaing (the ability to paint
directly on 3D objects), animation ability. But this will be done later.

Now there is a bit of skeleton in order to set the base.
Some objects can be created and drawn (yet, there is no user interface to
create objects). Some picking have also been implemented. Obects have their
color changed when mouse is moved over them.
The distributed raytracer works and is finished. Some user interface have
been done but this part haven't been finished. So this is yet a comand line
tool.

The source code is here :
http://www.esil.univ-mrs.fr/~bmahe/pub/qgltest.tar.gz
We are just at the beginning. A lot of work have to be done

Other Software Required:
------------------------
We will use these library :
- Qt
- OpenGL
- STL
- libpng
- libxml2
