  Programming from Ground Up is a very good book.
This book is also hosted on savannah.nongnu.org

This book takes an unusual way to start teaching programming, and this way I
think is very effective.
It talks about x86 assembly language on Linux platform. After reading it,
reader can get an solid knowledge foundation of computer and programming.

This project aims at translating this book to simplified Chinese to bring
this book to the country with most population, so that much more people can
benefit from this book
