Follow-up Comment #1:
I guess that's because the repository access is remote, and because you
explicitely specific "-r". For some reason CVS must think it has to download
the entire repository to decide whether or not to commit each file, so I
think it just commits for efficiency.
'cvs commit' without the "-r" option works well from ~/kolatest/rel_2_2/cvs
(and will take the branch into account thanks to CVS/Tag)
Your usage of cvs is a bit awkward though - in normal circumstances you never
specify the repository, but rely on CVS/Root files. Also you do not specify a
branch to 'ccvs ommit' if you already told 'cvs update' to use that branch.
I also think you should avoid committing from an anonymous checkout.
