By any change, did you properly set the CVS_RSH environment
variable?

Hello!

I apologize in advance for my ignorance. I have had

difficulty configuring things so I can utilize CVS.

My process was as follows:

1. I used ssh-keygen -t rsa1 to generate the file

~/.ssh/identity-pub and then copied the results into my

account configuration, ensuring that the number of keys

matches what I expect. I also verified that the form of

the key(s) is the same as what was specified: 1024 xx

xx...xx address@hidden

2. I waited a long time (actually > 24 hours)

3. I tried the following:

cvs -d address@hidden:/cvsroot/gsl

co -r quartic-1-4 gsl

I get (with no requests for passwords of any kind):

subversions.gnu.org: Connection refused

cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server

(consult above messages if any)

I am using:

Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 1.10 `Halibut'

(client/server)

although I have also installed a newer version of CVS

on a different computer:

Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 1.11.8 (client/server)

I'm wondering if the difficulty is something related to

my local configuration. However, this is strange to me

because I would think that if the server I am using

allows ssh access to and from just about anywhere, then

everything should be ok. Any ideas?

Thank you,

Andrew
