I agree. To reiterate, this is the primary reason I've been advocating
for it and why the previous discussions basically settled on it, instead
of MediaWiki or continuing with zope or whatever. (John, you weren't
here at the time, but that's the reason.)

the path of least resistance would be to use git for the ikiwiki

Per John's mail, it's clearly doable to use svn (in fact, I see ikiwiki
started with only svn for the backend). Aside from my personal
preferences, I really think svn is a better fit for the case at hand --
central documentation for Savannah that everyone contributes to. I
foresee git potentially causing plenty of unnecessary confusion.

And probably in either case it would be to vcs.savannah
    for the source repository.

Ah. Yes. So we could conceivably set up an internal project and just
get svn (or whatever) "for free". That sounds appealing.

I don't see ikiwiki setup being Debian specific.

Sure, but the package installation is. That's what I was talking about.

    little with ikiwiki

Thanks for all this, Aljoscha. It all looks pretty reasonable. BTW,
CGI is already enabled generically (e.g.,
http://savannah.gnu.org/cgi-bin/tz.cgi) although I doubt that will be
the most maintainable way to hook up ikiwiki. Whatever works best, the
Apache configuration is malleable.

Thanks,
k
