Hmm all my GNOME standard apps save their window state. E.g. Files or Evolution. They all use headerbars as well.
I didn't look at their code but maybe here is how that issue can be solved for Ring as well?

What GTK+ version does Ring use?

Will it be fixed on any recent GTK+ version?

Found a bug or do wish an enhancement: Ring Window doesn't save it's state. Expected: It remembers the last state before closing the App window. What do you think? Or does it make Ring somehow vulnerable if window state is saved?
Cheers and thanks!
