I think it's great that GNU is gaining what appears to be an easy-to-use 
secure telephony program.

It means one can't make proprietary versions of Ring. I'm not aware of 
another Ring license that would allow a proprietary derivative. But nothing 
in any version of the GPL prohibits commercial distribution or charging for 
your services if you'd like to provide commercial Ring support.
