The error seems to have been triggered by this file:

Perhaps this file is corrupt?

Perhaps a previous run (perhaps the one which generated the 'IOError: [Errno 30] Read-only file system' error) damaged the repository, and this may in turn have been caused by an imperfect physical connection to the backup media. In which case make sure the backup drive is on a solid connection and then try regressing the archive with rdiff-backup --check-destination-dir.

I also note that the permissions of your Fedora15-2Backup folder are shown as 'drwxr-xr-x.' - that trailing dot indicates an SELinux security context, but no other alternate access method. Maybe this has something to do with your problem?

I don't understand the following. Can someone help me?

The rdiff-backups were made on a fedora 17 machine. Last week I copied
the latest versions to a Ubuntu 12.04 machine I was using while the
other was out of commission. Tonight I tried to do an update to the
rdiff-backup files from the Ubuntu machine, to move the files back to
the fedora machine, which has been updated, and I'm getting the result
indicated below. A previous attempt resulted in "IOError: [Errno 30]
Read-only file system" along with lots of python stuff, but this time I
didn't get the "read only file system error."

address@hidden:/media# rdiff-backup
--exclude /home/eric/.evolution/cache/tmp
--exclude /home/eric/.config/google-chrome/SingletonSocket
--exclude /home/eric/.gtk-bookmarks/.gvfs --exclude
"/home/eric/VirtualBox VMs" --exclude /home/eric/repository
--include /home/eric --include /var/www --exclude
'**' / /media/b080d187-ad00-4b4a-9721-fcbe5e839827/Fedora15-2Backup

Previous backup seems to have failed, regressing destination now.
