Thanks for following up guys.  As it stands now the program does end
when it hits this exception, so it's a show-stopper.  That's a shame
too; I think this program is the silver bullet for my personal needs.
It's a real beauty.  I'll keep my eyes open for an updated binary, since
I have very poor luck getting most open source projects to compile/run
from source.

Oh well, I'm off to contribute to the avrdude project for now...

Actually, the "can't retrieve ACL" error messages are related. The error

you are seeing is a bug in rdiff-backup that happens when, for whatever,

reason, rdiff-backup is unable to retrieve ACL's (i.e. permissions 
information) for a file. The solution is to simply log the error (which 
we're doing now), and continue. I've committed a fix to CVS for this.

Andrew, could you please review this fix, then backport to the stable 
branch?
