[rdiff-backup-users] EC2 + S3

Anyone else using rdiff-backup with Amazon's EC2 + S3?

I've been getting it setup today and I'm just running a first test
(rdiff-backup 1.1.5) which seems to be going smoothly, although slower
than I'd hoped. I'm using s3fs which seems to just about work but
isn't very clever (all filesystem access seems to be as the user who
mounted it, root in this case).

If it all works smoothly, I'm going to set a large backup going
tonight (approx 150Gb) and see how that goes. I'm hoping that I can
eventually automate it so that my EC2 instance only exists for the
amount of time that rdiff-backup is running. Should keep costs down.

There's a beta program where Amazon are providing their own tools for
mounting S3 volumes as persistent storage on EC2 instances, but I'm
not on it (yet). That should make things pretty straightforward but
for now it seems a bit "seat of the pants". Anyone done this before
and know of any pitfalls? Otherwise I'll just fall down them myself
and report back here afterwards :)

Regards,

Matt
