I figured out that the chmod was being attempted on directories that didn't have full perms. But you only need +rx on directories to restore them so this little patch sorts that problem out: http://andrewprice.me.uk/dropoff/read_only_fs_restore.diff Using this patch I was able to restore a backup from CDR without being root. -- Andy Price http://andrewprice.me.uk
