But rdiff-backup stores meta-data separately, as I understand it, meaning
that the original meta-data will be restored, if rdiff-backup is also used
in the restore-proces.

Or have I misunderstood something?

(Do, however, look at the --windows-mode parameter if storing on a
FAT-filesystem.)
