That said, my Xinerama-patched version should work fine on a
non-Xinerama system too.  (I haven't tested this much, though. It
definitely works fine on a single-head display.)  With my patch, most
of ratpoison neither knows nor cares whether the multiple screens are
due to Xinerama or standard X multi-screen support.

That would be really nice.  I use Xinerama because I like the
convenience of moving windows from one screen to another; being able
to temporarily trade this DRI and Xvideo would be handy, but I suspect
it may require some pretty big changes to XFree's drivers.

Keith Packard mentioned at linux.conf.au that Xinerama might disappear
entirely, in favour of something based on his new compositing stuff.
