I guess I paid too little attention to the original discussion then.  I thought
the objective was to restore window settings after restarting X - a kind of
session save and restore.  The id won't be the same between invocations, will
it?  Or maybe they will.  I'm seeing strange patterns in the ids.

Where can I find more documentation on this?

I don't use frames, so the part I was most interested in was renumbering my
windows to what they were before.  I like Galeon to be 8 and xmms to be 9. :P
