Thanks for the information about your ranger version, Felix. On 1.8.1 I
was able to confirm the behavior you were describing and I found the
commit that changed it:
https://github.com/ranger/ranger/commit/e9d8f70031690cf34a4fddb51e9c422260b553a8
I think it's a valid bug/regression, so feel free to open an issue on
Github.
