First, note that the "string-value" function is deprecated,
due to a misunderstanding on my part. Use the "string"
function - which does return the string-value.
When I run the code inside, and outside of Netbeans, I get the
following:
string-value(<a>3+5 is {3+5}</a>) =>
gnu.mapping.UnboundSymbol: Unbound symbol string-value
Strange. Don't off-hand know why.
I'll see if I get the same.
When I attempt to evaluate the same expression using 'java -jar
Kawa-1.6.99.jar --xquery' I get:
{--1--} string-value(<a>3+5 is {3+5}</a>)
3+5 is 8
Which is closer to the right answer, but I was expecting '<a>3+5 is
8</a>'.
You shouldn't. "string value" as a specific techinical
definition in the specifications.
