In this way, each release might need one additional feature bit meaning 
"some bugs are fixed"?
Version field is somewhat redundant with feature bits, but in a real deployment
environment, it might be useful for compatible check, especially for the case 
when 
backend device and frontend driver are not maintained by same people.
