How do you mean 'nothing'? Can you be more precise?

Does it display the network interface configuration? open the guest
window? Or really is does it just hang immediately? With the '-monitor
stdio' option does it give you a monitor prompt?

Have you tried running qemu with:

strace qemu <your normal options> 2>/tmp/qemu.log
