OK I checked and the only thing that fails during boot is the interface
eth0 fails to initialize.
When I try startx or kde, XFree86 launches and then I get:
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
What's up with that doc? :)
