surely This is what happened, but I did that BEFORE the fresh checkout, all 
makefiles, autostuff here were generated or came from CVS, so how come I 
still get these errors ??

unless KDevelop changed someting the very automake I have installed.
In this case, which are the current recommend versions for automake/autoconf ?
I will reinstall them
