With anglemail (anglemail.com) you can have more than one email account per
user, but sharing one is going to depend on your IMAP servers locking style.
UWash currently has a problem with more than one tread accing the same
mailbox.  Anlgemail's "extreme" caching (which more than doubles the speed of
the app) will also have issues with this, but this caching can be disabled
globaly with a quick edit of a file.
