Hi,

you could use a two axis sensor as vertical by only connecting one axis... 

If you are able to build SMD electronis you could build your own. Have done it 
and it´s not too complicated (http://paparazzi.enac.fr/wiki/User:Marc#Hardware).

And I think you can connect Aspirin to LPC-Boards (like Tiny and Twog) when 
using a carrier board.
