You can also move the window partway out of the top of the screen - at
least with decent window managers you can do that - and access stuff at
the bottom in that way.

Usually it is done with Alt + dragging the window.

Yes. In fact the OP's mentioned bug is actually a dup of one from much
longer back, that I replied on to with exactly that alt+drag suggestion
as a workaround, and got a reply from someone on the bug that it was a
great workaround for the problem. Let's see if I can find the bug
number...

OK, bug mentioned by OP:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=704959

Should be a dup of this one (with the suggested alt+drag workaround)
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=697983

I had not seen the previous bug report 697983 when I found the 704959 bug report. I did go back into Pan and can state that your workaround works.

Thanks for the clarification. I figured that the best place to find a solution to my small screen problem was to post to the mailing list. The bug is a minor annoyance, but there are ways of dealing with it, whether using the alt + drag, reverse tabbing, or direct editing of the posting prefs.xml file. Of the three the alt +drag is the quickest.
