Actually, Gnome and GtkSpell are optional.  The `REQUIRED'
here is the minimum version of Gnome and GtkSpell required _if_
you want to build Pan as a Gnome app or with spellchecking.

I'll add a comment to the configure.in file to clarify this. :)
