You create a rule that marks articles with a score of -9999 as read.  It's not 
a preference setting, because everyone who uses pan may not want the same 
behaviour.

Hrm, where is the mark -9999 as read automatically option in Pan 0.14.2.91? 
I looked in preferences and didn't see it.
