[Pan-users] Pan gets in a loop while updating and can't get out

While loading absm.complete_cd (some 400k
articles) Pan goes into some loop and can't get
out of it. It consumes all system resources and
needs to be killed. I did have quite a bit of
trouble getting (among others) GTK2 to work on
my 800MHz Via Epia RH8.0 512 MB mem/ 1.5 GB swap
machine, and cut a few corners (--nodeps). Next
time I'll just compile... Still it was worth it!
Even million article groups now load, albeit
under protest. Anyway, the logfile says:
Fri, 28 Nov 2003 20:20:44 - Pan 0.14.2 Started

Fri, 28 Nov 2003 20:21:17 - (Null) - file
article.c: line 1095 (article_is_valid):
assertion `a->references.len==0 ||
*a->references.str =='<'' failed
Fri, 28 Nov 2003 20:21:17 - (Null) - file
article.c: line 1092 (article_is_valid):
assertion `*a->message_id.str =='<'' failed

The last line repeated at infinitum, about
three-four times per second. This was after Pan
was killed and loaded the group again for an
update.

My Pan installation is a bit shaky prolly due to
my GTK2 trouble, and is decidedly less stable
than 0.14.0. Could this be a cause as well?
