is there a way too....

Only load new articles when I load up a group. IE: Double click on my groups, and check out the article plane. When doing this, only have it run filters/score on those new articles, and basically forget about any other articles.. unless i tell it to show old articles. this is brought up by the fact that I loaded up my normal route of control+shift+u, and the last two groups, contained a total of about 600k articles. My system stopped.. basically, and before i added more swap this would crash it. With 256megs of ram, and 377 megs of swap on two drives, it took over 15 minutes for these two last groups to load. But if it were only looking at the last 100k articles, ie: the newest it would only take a few seconds. Any ideas?
