I just compiled and updated to pan 0.13.2.90, and twice today, when selecting
a new group, PAN would slow the system down to a crawl, and consume all
available memory, until the kernel kills pan -- See syslog entry for one
occurance of this:
Nov 23 21:34:13 dragon kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 2200 (pan).
Nov 23 21:34:13 dragon kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 2202 (pan).
Nov 23 21:34:13 dragon kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 2204 (pan).
Nov 23 21:34:13 dragon kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 2205 (pan).
Nov 23 21:34:13 dragon kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 2206 (pan).
Nov 23 21:34:13 dragon kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 2207 (pan).
Nov 23 21:34:13 dragon kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 2208 (pan).
It's almost as if one of the threads is in an infinite loop.
I can't seem to trigger it deliberately, but both times it happened I was
selecting a group that had not been read before, and it happened right after
the dialog asking if I would like to download "new header", "all headers",
etc.
I'll try some more to trigger it again. Has anyone else seen this with the
new Pan?
John
