Hi Jef,
Although this is not really the fix for your specific problem, i've been having
a lot of trouble before compiling on Solaris.
The best way to fix dependencies for me turned out to install the Gnome 2 Beta
2 available from the Sun site.
At least it gave me a stable gnome 2 environment without the usual trouble of
having to compile everything and sorting out all dependancies in the right
order.
