It's my understanding that OS X 10.4 will have support for OpenEXR in
Quicktime, too.  Hopefully one of our Apple mailing list readers can
confirm that.

I'm not familiar with the Quicktime API (only the file format), but I
suspect it doesn't currently offer support for 16-bit FP pixels.  I'm
curious to see how this'll be handled.
