I happen to know about a device for scanning full-spherical lightprobes
directly in HDR. (I work for the company who developed and produces this
camera :-)). The camera is called 'SpheroCam HDR' and is produced by the
SpheronVR AG, see www.spheron.com for details.
I am, btw., currently working on support for OpenEXR in our product.
