Follow-up Comment #1, patch #9444 (project octave):

Alexander, thank you for the patch. 
However, I am hesitant adding an icon from an additional theme. Currently, we
have the icons from the current desktop theme and - if not available - icons
from the Tango theme. Icons not available in both sets are drawn based on the
design rules from the Tango theme.

I have attached a revised patch with an icon created with colors and styles
already used in some other icons. What do you think?
