Follow-up Comment #32, patch #8656 (project octave):

Hmm, I overlooked that your second incremental patch didn't apply due to a
missing "_" between "table" and "color" in variable_editor.cc (copied it from
Kompare so chances are it screwed up on my side).
So now alternating colors do work fine; sorry for the noise.

I'll send a link to an undated binary installer later tonight.
